Mold after a leak in DFW

Mold after a leak, roof leak, or flood in a humid North Texas home: what to know, Texas mold licensing, and a referral to independent help.

Referral service · Not a contractor

Humid North Texas summers help mold grow wherever water is trapped: behind drywall, under flooring, in attics after a roof leak, or around an AC air handler that overflowed.

Signs

Texas mold rules in brief

In Texas, mold assessment and remediation are regulated by the TDLR. For larger jobs, a licensed assessor usually writes a protocol and a separate licensed remediator does the work. Small areas may be exempt. Ask any company which license it holds and look it up.

What to do

  1. Find and stop the water source first.
  2. Per the EPA, small areas on hard surfaces can often be cleaned; larger areas or porous materials may need a professional.
  3. Do not paint over mold.
  4. Ask how the area will be contained and how clearance will be confirmed.

How our referral works

We are a referral service, not a contractor. When you send a request, we connect you with an independent restoration contractor who serves your city. You contract with and pay that contractor directly, and you are always welcome to choose someone else.
